Thank you!
Running for City Council has been a learning process—both exhilarating and challenging. I’d like to start by thanking the most amazing team.
Our success is due to the unwavering commitment of the many West Sac leaders (elected or by virtue of their example) and friends, who encouraged, mentored, believed in, and unconditionally supported the two women running for office.
You—who have been beside us every step of the way—are the reason we will have our first all-female West Sac City Council (how cool is that!).
I especially want to acknowledge Mayor Pro Tem Quirina Orozco, Councilmembers Chris Ledesma and Dr. Dawnté Early-West, Supervisor Oscar Villegas, Former Mayor McGowan, and the INCREDIBLE FEEL-THE-VERN TEAM!
My heart is filled with gratitude for all of you who busted your butts, contributed, walked, phoned, texted, and gave (lots of!!) time and emotional support.
Also, to my wonderful husband, Brent, and my amazing mom Patricia, who kept everything running at home, took care of Barrett, and then took care of me—especially these last few weeks of pregnancy (which, let me tell you, haven’t always been easy).
The connection between running for office while carrying a new life—literally growing the future we are all working so hard to protect—has helped me to remain focused on what’s important: thoughtful, intentional work that both represents and supports our community. Those entrusted to lead must earn your trust every day, in both our actions and speech.
Moving forward, while we may not always agree in the details, I will be up-front and maintain open, respectful lines of communication. I will serve with dedication, honesty, and courage. I’ll keep my focus on improving lives for West Sac families, building towards a safe and healthy future, and promoting integrity and equity in every decision… even, maybe especially, when they force difficult conversations.
I love this community. I can’t imagine a better place to have grown up or to be raising my own family. Together, let’s make sure it stays that way.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m personally humbled and honored.
